Please try it while adjusting the direction of the tip. When experimenting with brushes, be sure to make use of the scratchpad on the right (the > button on the right side of the brush settings window, if it's not already toggled) and the stroke at the top of the brush settings window will show you what the stroke looks like from light pressure to heavy pressure. In a nutshell, the / curve has a smooth transition, the S curve spends more time being really big and really small, and you can remove either of the middle control points in the S curve to make a brush that gets small easily but not large, or vice versa. You can also adjust the pressure/size curve for any brush if you feel like the brush gets small or large too quickly compared to the pressure applied, or if it doesn't change size quickly enough.
